Church of Holy Sophia in Practice
We offer Catholic Services as a Celtic Mass.
Celtic Mass is offered the Second Saturday of every month
suspended due to COVID The Mary Magdalene Chapel meetyings. We are meeting via ZOOM
Please contact Diane for details and location. We also have training paths for those seeking ordination in the Old Catholic religion as deacons and priests. We do ordain women in our church. The Old Catholic Church has apostolic succession through the Roman Catholic Church but broke away a couple centuries ago in Utrecht. Old Catholics have been determined, by the pope of that time, to be a valid expression of Cathlocism in apostolic sucession but are illicit in their practices, according to the Roman Catholic church. Old Catholics differ in many ways from them, but are similar in worship and in beliefs, and in the celebration of the Mass. Old Catholics, sometimes known as Independeant Catholics, are a very diverse group with each church having its own practices and Rule. We are distinct in not only that we ordain women, but in that we have incorporated Sufi beliefs and practices within our church. Additionally, we have incorporated Celtic beliefs and practices as a part of our church.
Currently we celebrate the Mass in the Celtic tradition, as did the Irish Catholics in the past.
Right Reverend Diane and Reverend Amina are ordained Old Catholic priests. In addition, Diane is a Bishop consecrated in the Order of Holy Wisdom. Our bishop is currently revising our mass from a Celtic Mass practiced for many years. She is bringing in more Celtic elements and equalizing the gender disparity common throughout the ages.
